Flying Foxes are large fruit-eating bats which roosted in large numbers in trees along Tekek Bay's beach and in Tekek town too. Some Pacific islanders ate these bats but Malaysians apparently did not. The bats hung out all day, not leaving until it was too dark to photograph them in the air. They find food in the rainforest (and in island gardens) with their noses.
